The details of the attack are somewhat beside the point, but the real issue is that your ISP may be compromised, sending you to attackers' pages masquerading as real ones. AT&T is known to have suffered a successful attack.

It's a serious problem. The Register has an article on the problem that includes links to test whether your ISP is in fact vulnerable to the attack (if it's already compromised, of course, you might not get the real test page when you click...sorriaboutthat).
